Sweetness is K

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 19, 2009, 7:47 PM

Woo! I thank :iconkj-a: for the subscription he surprised me with a few days ago:love:; I'm hoping to take full advantage of it (note: new journal style and icon! YEYYYY!) and update as much as possible.

I've been going back to a lot of my old files and reworking everything (that's all I seem to do), but I hope to have some new and up-to-date work really soon since all I have in my gallery is old and abandoned junk. Also preparing for a local convention with friends :iconaurvandil:,:iconmelem:, and :icono-shen:; but I don't expect to make too much; I'm not part of any fandoms and I likely won't have much or any fanart to sell(lack of time, lack of interest). But I will be doing some commissions and selling a very limited amount of original prints. Yey!

Upcoming?

Thu Jul 9, 2009, 9:06 AM
I'm going to Animethon with a few friends, :iconaurvandil: and :iconmelem:; we'll be selling art and commissioning together in the Dealer's room! Mel is looking for a few other artists, if interested, please leave her a note! I'm trying to have at least 3 complete prints to sell, as well as some old things. Also, I'm currently working part-time at my old job; yey. Registration is up for the year and I'm hoping to schedule a 3 day week each semester C;

Cheers, all! Will... hopefully have an update soon!

Meet with the great Andrew Jones and Kris Kuksi!

Wed May 20, 2009, 9:57 AM
Ahhhh-- a lot to say in this journal; No one will read it but I thought I'd update it since it's been awhile. xD;

The great Andrew Jones and Kris Kuksi had a gallery opening called Divine Invasion at the metaGallery this last Friday on May 15, 2009 in Toronto, ON. I had the honour of meeting both of them and collecting some autographs and prints C: They're two really cool, humble and amazingly skilled artists who I admire and look up to so highly!

During the opening, I was invited both by the two gallery owners, as well as Andrew, to attend a private workshop he was having the next evening. About ten of us were welcomed by Andrew and his company; It was apparently the first personal workshop he has ever held with such a small number of people. We had an open discussion about his life as well as his views on love, religion, illegal substances, art, selling out, and his spiritual journey in Peru. He performed the technical part of the workshop where he digitally painted a Portrait on request of his company, Feydre(?), using various programs and switching to and from them- Painter XI, Photoshop, Zbrush. It was absolutely amazing to see him to work so dynamically though the process! I hope to catch him once again in the future; and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to meet with him and see him work live.

The gallery will be up for quite some time, and anyone in Toronto or in the surrounding area is encouraged to visit C: For Info: [link]

Kris Kuksi ([link]) or :iconkuksi: : "Old World"
Andrew Jones ([link]) : "the apocalyptic art shaman"
Other famed artists who attended included Bobby Chiu! [link]

So... What is my Zeitgeist?!

At the moment, I'm back in Toronto, ON, Canada, going to summer school and taking some University Studio courses C: I'm going to make the attempt to document some of the things I'll be doing for these classes. I have an Illustration class with Tavis Coburn ([link]) for about a two month period and I'm pretty stoked ! He's a renowned illustrator on the international level and a graduate of Art Center; he's a pretty cool, young professor as it seems!

In other news, I'll be reuniting with my ECAMU (Edmonton Cartoon Artist Meet Up) group at Anime North ! Kim from evilsmile.net, :iconinui:, :iconkoyar: will be town selling some of their super cool and handmade goodies. As well as, the OCAD Doujin Club will be selling some just-as-super-cool goodies C: Check out their tables if you're going !!

Devious Babble

Sat Jan 26, 2008, 7:31 PM
Argh. I feel the need to ramble. No, not on anything particularly significant or special (as a warning). :blahblah:

I took a two hour train ride up to Kingston last night to see my aunt. And I'm spending the weekend here. It's a quaint little town, at least from my initial observations. "Scuzzy" as described by my aunt, who's studying Law here. Anyway, I came by an art store; it's probably the biggest I've been to. Huge selection and cheap prices(in comparison to Edmonton). So, if anyone is in the Kingston area in Ontario... [link] might be a good spot to check out C;

Anyway, tomorrow is my birthday (grah, getting older) and I'm so content to be spending it with Mandi and my aunt, who's been our big sister since we were young. It's odd, I haven't done anything for my birthday these last 8 years; it's sort of nice.

Back in Toronto, I've recently moved into a pleasant space owned by a distant relative. This has given me my own room (yessssss!) which is so satisfying since it was difficult sharing a one bedroom apartment with three others. Also, with the extra room and workload relief at OCAD (8 classes, two institutions to 4 classes, one institution) I've had the time and space to experiment with other mediums such as Photography and Silkscreening. I'll hopefully have a little silkscreening studio set up for :iconlivingston-dell: and I soon so that I can make some shit. =) Concerning photography, I'm learning to shoot with a traditional manual Nikon FE2 SLR camera. It's fun. I recommend such a hobby for anyone to take up in favour of pure enjoyment, compositional studies, and referencing.

Oh and [link] is up; my personal/portfolio web-site. Nothing is on it as of yet, however, I'll be certainly giving it more attention than my DeviantArt.

Ho hum, I suppose I am finished my spiel.

Devious Journal Entry

"My Sketch" is up. A personal project I'll be working on during the break. Nothing is on it as of yet. It is an attempt to collect portfolio bits, conceptual work, and keep me sane from the many relatives invading space. I'll be clearing my gallery again since it's all rubbish. Tempted to "invest" in some large canvases, and oils for the few days I have in solitude before class begins again.

I'm also contemplating a switch in Major from Design, Illustration to Art, Drawing and Painting. Hrmm.
